6 Powerful Women who Inspired this Generation

Gone are the days when women were suppressed, dominated and were not treated equally. Today, the time has changed and there are many opportunities awaiting for them to showcase  their strength and capacity to develop into something valuable in future. There are people who have done or  achieved extraordinary things and then there are women who not only created waves of their achievement but also established grounds of being an inspiration for others. I'm mentioning women separately because I believe they are superior and have always been so. It might have taken so long for people to realise a woman's worth but gradually they have succeeded and prospered breaking all the barriers and norms of society. They have proved that they can be strong and great at the same time mild and pleasant. If they're humble it should not be mistaken for meek and feeble. Often the highest degree of spirit and influence is hidden beneath the disguise of gentle and amiable being. Here we are enlisting few handpicked iconic women of this generation who have redefined the meaning of achievement and empowerment alike.

1. Kangana Ranaut


The National award winning actress for Queen movie, is the highest paid actress in our country and the reason is worth knowing. Kangana who belonged to a small town, middle class family is a well known actress today. Whoever follows bolllywood staunchly is familiar with her name. She struggled for almost 10 years in the industry and look where she stands now. She is widely known for her woman centric and distinct portrayal of her characters. Be it movies like Fashion, Queen, Life in a metro,Tanu weds Manu returns, she has proved her mettle in acting. She garnered praise from every corner and became a role model for portraying her character 'Rani' from Queen movie. She has established herself over the years and improved her acting skills.She is the absolute personification of beauty with brains and thus she initiated a trend that you don't need a man or 'Khans of bollywood' to be precised, in order to  climb a success ladder. 2. Kalpana Chawla


She was the first Indian-American astronaut and first Indian woman to reach space. She died in Space Shuttle Columbia Disaster with all the seven crew members, which occurred on February 1, 2003. This research scientist was destined and determined to become an astronaut and followed her dreams. She belonged to Haryana state in India and completed her Bachelor of Engineering degree in aeronautical engineering at Punjab Engineering College in Chandigarh. She inspired many young girls to take engineering as a profession. There are many scholarships and memorials named after her.

3. Saina Nehwal


This Indian badminton player is currently ranked the no.1 player in the world. She is the first indian woman to win a medal in badminton in Olympics. She is also the first indian after Prakash Padukone to become world number 1 player. She won silver medal at 2015 BWF World Championship becoming the first indian woman to do so. She has become a perfect example for young girls to achieve their goals. Her status and rankings have improved over the years. She has endorsed many sports brands and has appeared in several advertisements as well.

4. Sania Mirza


She is an Indian professional tennis player currently ranked no.1 in women's doubles. Earlier she was ranked no.1 player of India in both singles and doubles by Women's Tennis Association. She developed interest in playing tennis at the age of six. Many few people know that she is also a very good swimmer. In 2004 she was awarded with Arjuna award by the Indian Government, later on in 2006 she was given Padma Shri for her achievements as a tennis player. The government of Telangana appointed her as the brand ambassador of the state and recently she's been felicitated with Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award. She is the vital reason why many youngsters, especially girls, are taking tennis as a profession.

She is a Pakistani activist and feminist and the youngest ever noble leaureate.She staunchly preaches women empowerment and works towards it. According to her,education is the best weapon against illiteracy and terrorism. She  strives her best to impart right knowledge to others. She is one of the most popular and influential teenager at present. People look up to her as an inspiration. She has proved that age is just a number, you can be mature and wise at the same time juvenile at heart. She is the first woman to speak and fight against terrorism and it is her bravery that has won many hearts. She has been bestowed by many prestigious awards and honours till date. What makes her unique is, she isn't afraid to speak and fight against evil if required. She can lead youth of this era in a proper way and she is striving her best to provide women equal rights.

This courageous Bollywood actress won Miss world title way back in 2000 and she never looked back. She has now become an international celebrity. She has won many accolades for portraying vital characters in movies like Mary Kom, Fashion, Barfi and the like. She proclaimed herself as a  self made star as she has no filmy background. She has won National award for best actress as well. She is one of the most versatile actresses we have in bollywood. Be it any negative role or when it comes to set an example among youth, this woman surely knows how to earn praise and love from the audience.

Every individual is either blessed with or has acquired unmatchable potential in themselves and that is something you must not lose it in the hard times of failure or disappointment. This is what empowering is all about, irrespective of the struggles and obstacles, you must continue to grow and inspire others. They have become muse to many youngsters of this era. Women's' achievement is all about developing oneself and cultivating the message of establishment of self as well as others living in the society.
